HIFU or high-intensity focused ultrasound is a cosmetic treatment for skin care instead of non-invasive treatments. The HIFU treatment uses ultrasound energy to promote collagen production, which results in firmer skin. HIFU treatment itself does not require surgery or applications such as fillers, botox injections, thread implants, or other facial treatment methods.
Initially, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound or HIFU was used as a method of treating benign (non-cancerous) tumors. The process still uses ultrasound waves that conduct heat to kill tumor cells. The first use of HIFU for aesthetic treatment was in 2008, and until now it has become a common aesthetic treatment performed by beauty clinics.
HIFU’s goal
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly.
the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cell damage. This damage actually aims to produce cells to produce more collagen or protein which will later provide a new structure to the skin.
Collagen results in firmer skin and an increase in fewer wrinkles. Because high-frequency ultrasound beams monitor specific tissue sites below the skin’s surface, there is no damage to the top layer of skin.
This procedure works best in people over the age of 30 with mild to moderate skin weakness. HIFU is also not recommended for people with infections and open skin lesions in the target area, severe or cystic acne, and metal implants in the treatment area.
HIFU treatment has many aesthetic benefits, including:
• Wrinkle reduction.
• Tighten loose skin on the neck.
• Lift the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids.
• improved jaw line definition.
• Skin tightening.
• Smooth the skin.
